Hoey believes that high quality grapes are crucial for making high quality wines.
Odonata has three estate vineyards. Falcon Hill, in the Santa Cruz Mountains, where Hoey grows his estate Pinot Noir. Machado Creek, near Morgan Hill in the southern Santa Clara Valley, where he grows 10 acres of Petite Sirah, Syrah, Grenache, Mourvedre and Sangiovese grapes. Chiara Estate Vineyard, at the Odonata Winery in Santa Lucia Highlands, where he produces their Viognier.
